Consus was a god of storage bins and harvest grains. He had an underground altar in the Circus Maximus where the chief priest and the Vestal Virgins officiated at his rite. Consus was honored with the sacrifice and burnt offerings of first-fruits. Horses and other animals were allowed to rest on this day, and garlands were hung around their necks.
Consus had two other festivals: one in July, and one in December for the winter sowing of grain.
