Alright, this post will explain the various updates and changes added to The Camplog[1]. For those of you that have a keen eye, you might have seen that the source code was released yesterday. You can just grab it from The Camplog index page, served off right Gemini. As it is only one file it is easy to distribute in this way.
Probably the most visible change are colors to the camp ASCII art and Martin. Who is Martin? Not like I know, either. Speaking of colors, I might add more colored elements in the future.
On the program code side, I basically fully re-programmed it, since the original code I worked on slowly became a mess. This one is cleaner and more functional, less error prone.
There are simple guidelines now, in order to have a general good environment. In a nutshell, be decent.
The second part of Martin's greeting to you is now randomized from around 11 replies. It changes on each SSH session.
Every input prompt now uses the username you chose in the beginning when Martin asked you for it. Thought it was a nice personalized change.
The script now runs fully chrooted as detailed in my previous post for added security. Please do not run scripts without a chroot.
Probably some other small changes I forgot. You can try it for yourself, or if you did in the beginning, re-try it, if you wish, as there have been multiple changes and re-writes and the experience is as-new. The script is basically complete, I do not know what else to add at the moment. There might be a re-write in Python if I can make it work, as I do not know much Python. If you have any suggestions feel free to drop them by.
