This computer has been sitting on a shelf in my elementary school for a good while. Just a year ago, they were in-use in one of the computer lab. They were running on Windows 98 and even at that time, Windows XP has been released for a couple of years now. Just saying those were aging poorly is an understatement. But even when using them, I knew they had special specs, with the Pentium Pro sticker. When they got discarded, I *had* to do something! I went directly to the school administration and talked to them. And it worked out, I got one!
At first, I was toying with it, installing Linux (EduLinux, a distribution made by GULUS, an accronym for Linux Users of University of Sherbrooke). It was cool... but nothing more. Later on, I made it my main computer! With 128mb of ram, that Pentium Pro was able to run Windows XP quite good! I remember having Firefox, Shareaza (sharing and music player) and MSN messenger running at the same time, without lag!
