2/5
This one is a bit of a departure from the previous ones. No one gets punched, and despite quite a bit of family tension there's no threat of divorce. I guess it would be bad form to mention it in a movie about the birth of a new baby.
Also, Baby Dumpling graduates to Alexander, which is odd, given that in two previous movies it was established that, contrary to the comic strip, his first name is Dagwood. I guess no one pays attention to continuity in these things (or maybe it's his middle name?).
Dagwood does lose his job, and gain it back, and get different jobs several times during the movie. Also, Blondie finally gets a maid, though she didn't ask for one, probably because in "Servant Trouble" she realized they were dangerous.
The mooching playwright is probably the most interesting character, but just as the Bumsteads discover, he has a way of overstaying his welcome. I could have done with more punching and near divorce. It's horribly played out this far into the series, but at least it would have held my interest better.
Also, did they ever find out who stole Alexander's life savings?
