It's the console I grew up with, the mighty Sony Playstation. I got two of them, the first one had the parallel port in the back, the second one didn't.
I got it as a Christmas present from my parents. This PSX had the parallel port un the back and I had two Dual-shock controllers and one memory card. It's hard to keep track of the games I owned because at the time, I was more focussed to exchange games for new ones. Later on, I went to install a modchip. Sadly I was too young to be interrested by the model of the modchip and all. During summertime, I was being baby-sitted at my cousin's house and because some days were very long, I was bringing my Playstation with me. during this summer, a strange issue started to develop. My PSX was no longer able to read original discs, only copies! An issue that was not really one, because most of my games were backups at that time. I still had originals, but I wasn't playing them much. Later on, the Playstation developped another issue, this one more severe. The controllers stopped working all of a sudden. The console was reading copies just fine, but despite the controller plugged in, nothing would react on screen. I bring the console to the one who modded it, and he told me that my console was dead. rip.
I got my second Playstation a few years later, by my father as a Christmas gift. This model was more recent, and didn't got the parallel port in the back. With it, I recieved a memory card, a dual-shock controller and the Spyro the Dragon trilogy (Collector's edition). I don't remember much after that, or maybe I mix memories of the first PSX with the second one. But I'm sure I had real fun with that console too. I didn't went with a modchip on this one. I powered the console recently. I was able to play a little bit until the console froze. Froze and died, yep. After resetting the console, nothing was working anymore. I suspect leaky capacitors. Those are not passthrough capacitors but rather surface-mounted (the annoying kind). I might try my luck in replacing them. Only time will tell!
