About me

A sysadmin guy living in Waterloo, Ontario, Canada.

Waterloo is city 100km West of Toronto where the future meets the past: a high-tech hub with a large Mennonite population. The kind of place where flashy EVs get stuck in traffic behind horse-drawn buggies.

Random stuff about me:

I like to fool around with Linux and Open Source software in general
I try to self-host as much as I can (e-mail, instant messaging, phone systems, video-conferencing, file storage, etc.) because I am completely paranoid about not knowing what big corporations do with people's personal data
when I was a kid, adults did very bad things to me — as a result I suffer from PTSD; I have undergone many years of treatment and therapy and had a big breakthrough in 2017: my life has taken a turn for the better since then
I wish I was more social but the truth is that I am afraid of people in general; I am very grateful for digital communication
I am fluent in French and English
I have recently become self-employed and this is one of the best things that have happened in my life
the actual very best thing that happened in my life is having my own family: my beloved wife unknowingly saved my life 25 years ago, and I was blessed with two wonderful children — even if they sometimes hate my dad jokes
