I'd heard the term *quiet quitting* a while back but didn't know what it was. I imagined people maybe leaving work one day and just not bothering to come back. But it turns out that it's not that.
It's turning off your computer at 5pm (or your end of day) and not doing extra (unpaid work). It's doing your job without your boss getting you to do more. What is wrong with that? Maybe you are paid by the hour, maybe you are contracted to do a set number of hours per week. Why should you do more than you have agreed to. Why should your job eat into your fun/relaxing/home time?
Some will say that "you will never get promoted if you do the bare minimum". Which is probably true. But why did it become acceptable for a job to expect more from you, why is this acceptable.
