So there came a point this week when I decided to just go whole-hot and put one of my several Raspberry Pi's to work again. I had experienced quite a period of burnout from messing with the small world and small tech, and I'm happy to report I'm in a bit of a renaissance. I've enjoyed the general feeling of working with these simpler, more comprehendable machines as compared to the enterprise-grade ridiculousness I face daily (and happily, since it's a challenge) at work.
Computing at home shouldn't be a challenge. I should be able to enjoy it. And being a nerd in a command line, typing away into a vim window through ssh, that will have git changes committed and then migrated into my gemini host directory, is kinda zen. It's easy in the sense that I don't have to really expend a whole lot of brainpower to do it. It just kinda happens. It's just typing and telling a machine what to do with words. I like that.
So far, it's been pretty good. Generally I haven't had an issue being able to do what I want to do with browsing, coding, and even pulling stuff down from source and compiling it, while I've been on an RPi4 at my desk or my Pinebook Pro sitting somewhere else in my home. Gaming is the one thing that eludes me, because not only is that primarily an amd64 thing, that's also a primarily Windows thing. So I've got a Windows box just sitting around with its GPU, just waiting for an opportunity to do a thing.
I'm happy to be delving back into the smolnet more regularly. I've found some pretty fun posts and I recognize more than a few names from Circumlunar Space. I suppose I might need to add my thing to Capcom if I'm actually getting involved again.
