What kind of license do you use for your blog, if any at all? 📄
8 months ago
@maria Copyright isn't solely about monitization, and it's not theoretical - the laws exist in many countries, and there's a thing called International Law where allied countries will try to respect each others laws. It's just not very likely that someone would do a DMCA takedown. Anyways, the license is more for other people's peace of mind, not the author's, imo. It also increases awareness about Creative Commons and Open Source stuff. · 7 months ago
@krixano I know about the implications, but since the internet is a vast space, and we live in a niche that cares little about monetization, or certain laws and regulations, it's all theoretical · 7 months ago
@maria People license their texts because copyright exists and by default it's "All Rights Reserved", which means people can't take a person's text in full. By specifying the license, you are telling people what they are allowed to do, so that people don't wonder whether they can or can't use something - so they don't have to take any risks. · 7 months ago
why would I license my text? I can't prevent anyone from copying, storing or modifying my texts realistically. my license is, I don't put things online that I mind about 😉 · 8 months ago
I'm not talking about source license, which is a hot topic right now. I'm talking about text license, which is something I never thought about until I saw some people in here license their texts · 8 months ago
As my friend @op2 once told me, we all had better to use the beerware license... XD

You can buy my blog entries in an annoying proprietary DRM:ed eReader format. Anyone who doesn't is a pirate. Also I don't give a fuck about priates. · 8 months ago
the GNU FDL because I got started in 2003 · 8 months ago
