For those who aren't following Hexdsl, he found this cool clicker, Universal Paperclips (in HTTPland). You, well, make paperclips. Make more by automating the process, investing in companies, etc. No fancy graphics, just text really. gemini://hexdsl.co.uk/log/paperclips-20211116.gmi

6 hours 52 minutes and 23 seconds to convert all matter in the universe to paperclips. · 7 months ago

The game is actually a warning against hypercompetent AI. Believe it or not, this clicker has an end where eventually all matter in the universe gets turned into paperclips. I just started reading the Blame! series which has a similar elements with super advanced city building AI going rouge after humanity is locked out of controlling it, and over many thousands of years creates a practically infinite, incomprehensibly huge enviroment, parting out the *entirety* of the earth. Eventually the megastructure becomes so big it extends far into solar system and takes thousands of years for the genetically immortal main characters to traverse. · 7 months ago

That's actually pretty ancient iirc. I remember first hearing about it back when Cookie Clicker was at it's height of popularity.

Still very cool tho! · 8 months ago
