There’s something undeniably alluring about the stereotype of the loner-savant, sitting in the darkened workshop or in front of a computer screen.

I'm wondering how long this will persist.

On the one hand, people are moving more and more towards "no code" platforms, and even people without computer training understand how to put a flow-chart together to achieve what they want.

On the other hand, if "no code" platforms really do take off, then that will mean that the number of actual coders will wane in the newer generation, since people will assemble programs like they assemble Lego, making the loner-techie-terminal-savant a rare sight once more.

That's an interesting thought, especially in the context of other musings I've had about how technology doesn't "trickle down" very well.
