To start this log off, a rundown of my projects whose current status is somewhere between totally finished and "deep freeze":
- Playscii: a free and open source ASCII art, animation, and game creation tool. Ongoing, bugfixing and adding features as needed for my other projects.
- Sectorseed: a bare bones, standalone IWAD for building new games with GZDoom, and accompanying documentation resources, aimed mainly at solo / tiny team game developers who are new to Doom-like engines. Minimal IWAD exists, most of the remaining work lies in example content and documentation.
- Starstuff: an interactive creative computing primer for young people and beginning computer users. Still mostly in the idea stages, but I have the beginnings of a small prototype going in Playscii's game mode.
- Floq: a browser-native remake of a Processing sketch of birds flocking that was on my website circa 2011. Barely started, I'll probably use p5js or something like that.
- A video essay laying out future directions for 3D game world editors.
- [UI prototype for untitled 3D game world editor]. This is partly something I want to make in support of the aforementioned video essay, to clarify my ideas and give me working examples to present.
- Capcom VS Everyone: a twitter + mastodon bot that throws together ridiculous fake fighting game match-ups from thousands of characters drawn from the entirety of pop culture, and the tools I use to manually build its corpus. Ongoing, I keep a file open of characters I want to add to the corpus.
- SAW2HL2: A mash-up that sets spaces from Half-Life 2 to music from Aphex Twin's Selected Ambient Works Volume 2. First track released in 2019, a couple more tracks in various stages of progress.
- Mr. Friendly: a Doom mod that turns any level into a chill conflict-free space where you do quests to make demons happy. Released in 2018, mostly finished, just a few things like title art I'd like to have before calling it 1.0.
- WadSmoosh: a tool for combining the contents of the various retail Doom releases into a single file for easier playing. Ongoing, bugfixes and small feature additions as needed.
- [untitled exploration-centric GZDoom engine project]. I haven't worked on this since 2018, but I'd like to return to it someday.
- Autobiographical Architecture: A walk through my life's story, cobbled together from GZDoom engine recreations of real places and fragments of old games. This has proved a very emotionally difficult project, and I haven't worked on it regularly since 2017. But I build a few things for it from time to time, and keep a journal of ideas and thoughts that will provide a deep well of material when I do eventually return to it.
