Hello fellow gemineers. Burned out on the relentless and constant change on the web I seek refuge in gemspace, a calm and welcoming change.

I absolutely agree. Gemini is a nice break from the noise and stupidity of the Web. It also seems like a much more sustainable standard, which I also think is important. As the cancer of capitalism continues to metastasize, everything is designed to be thrown away every few years and re-done in the name of capitalist endless growth. Gemini seems less susceptible to this. · 1 year ago

I wonder how much time and energy is wasted on web development because of endless, usually pointless, frontend churn? This is what burned me out. I'd rather write a simple program or script that respects the privacy of its users and retains its usefulness for 20+ years than rewrite yet another marginally useful, surveillance-capitalist web app in whatever the flavor of the week happens to be.

Gemini has been a lovely change. · 1 year ago
