So the ids are for each post? First I thought it might be for each person posting, but that would probably not work, since how would you know if it was the same person, unless you were logging ip addresses or something. So each post has a uuid associated with it?

Yep, each post has a uuid, as well as each comment. Users are completely anonymous.
