I was sitting there last night and I was thinking: "2020 is over. It's a year that happened in history, and it will never happen again. Good!"
I mean there were a few bright spots in the year, I suppose. But they were more respites from looming doom, and anxiety than they were outright "life is beautiful!" type of moments. Ironically, me and the family proclaimed numerous times in late-2019 that "2020 is gonna be OUR year!" because of the six+ months of mourning/grieving we had for the loss of my father in January 2019. I picked up the motivation bug early, though, and quit social media and started walking/hiking on a regular basis in late-2019 instead of waiting for 2020 to roll around. Come Spring of 2020 and all the parks closed, and there was a lockdown here in St Louis - no exercise to be had. When things lifted, I continued to walk, and continued to lose weight/remain healthy, though.
Now (like in a flash) it is 2021. A vaccine is being rolled out, I'm still off social media, my blogging habits have only increased since the new year (if that's possible), and I'm at the lowest weight I have been since 2016. I have also been on again/off again working on a big web dev project (well, kind of big), and learning a lot along the way. 2021 may not be "MY year", but it has been better than 2020, so far, and I hope it stays that way.
So, GOODBYE 2020! Never want a year like that again.

Congrats on the successes thus far!
I get the idea of looking at each year accomplishments, I think we all do that.
At the same time I think that if you have a year with big accomplishments, it was probably stressful, complicated, with moments of doubt.
What I mean is that a year of success might not mean that you had a great year if you don't like being under pressure.
Because of that I think we should also learn to enjoy simple things, that are kind of easy to achieve. For example seeing friends, having a meal with them and playing games.
