Hello (again) pub

It's been a bit. Quite a bit, since I put something up on the ol' Smol.pub. I also realized that it had been a year, *almost* exactly one year (364 days to be exact) since I put up an entry on Midnight.pub, so I went ahead and posted something there, too. But I don't feel that I have "been away" from either S.p nor M.p in that time, because I have the URL's saved to my Firefox "Recent Visits" list (or recent history) or whatever, and I stop in and read recent posts from BOTH places nearly as often as I do with Read.write.as. These three "hubs" (Smol.pub, Midnight.pub, and Read.write.as) are the three go-to spots I hit up whenever I launch my web browser on my laptop. That, and 1Feed RSS reader and ProtonMail. I like blogs and reading blogs and writing blogs and seeing "what's new" with the bloggers of the WWW.

I realized (in fact, I realized some time ago) that I "happened" into the decentralized/independent/individualistic Web - away from the flagship blog platforms, and social media giants, and standard methods of communicae. I mean, I started my old (and still current) blog on Write.as (TMO) back in early-2018, and I assumed it was just like any other type of blogging platform, albeit a bit smaller one, and something more community-oriented, and less social media-y, and I was definitely right on that one. But what I didn't expect, was that it would introduce me to, and open the doors for, alternative methods and platforms for communication altogether. I had heard of, but never used, Mastodon before. The word "decentralized" was not in my vocabulary whatsoever. I just always thought I would just be a guy who put my entries onto Tumblr, share them on Twitter, blah, blah, etc. - and that I would continue to do so indefinitely (though I had already developed is noxious distaste for Twitter by early-2018, and Tumblr ceased to function (nearly at all) by that time, as well - I wanted away from those places).

But, I had written off the concept of an authentic social Web, or, where people actually correspond and exchange ideas for the benefit of themselves and the individual they are communicating with alone, and NOT for something that could/would be consumed by the masses, something that could be "eavesdropped" on, something that could have been interrupted by random folks who have nothing better to do other than to "butt in" to a conversation for their own grandstanding purposes.

Instead, I feel that services that exist here, on a "social/indie/etc. web", or whatever someone would call this, are kind of here for the enjoyment and utility of any individual who chooses to use it. It's cool, it's neat, it's definitely useful :)

So, I feel good and at home here. W.a, S.p, M.p, my RSS feed, and the occasional e-mail exchange. Simple, yet satisfying :)

Hope everyone is doing well
