my wife and i looked at properties online. we can’t afford a nice plot of land with a small house in it. so we started thinking anti-mimetically about it. not that we want to buy something anytime soon. but what if? what do we really need? from first principles? —- so much of people‘s behavior is mimetic, following others or rooted in a desire to impress or gain social status (like a fancy home). behaving anti-mimetic while being true to one’s own desires one can open new paths and unlock new options. it is simple, but boy can i tell you, it is not easy.

🤔 so... crazy idea. Kennedy's crawler allows me I can see all pages in gemini space. Which means I can detect all the atom feeds and gemtext pages with URLs that comply with "Subscribe to gemtext page" standard. Which means I have a list of URLs I can check for posts/updates. Which means I could build a "super" Antenna, which aggregates all updates across all of Gemini, daily... an "orbitial antenna" if you will... 🤔

The way internet is structured today rewards the resourceful rather than people. Those with capital, skills and resources are over represented on the web. We need to move away from that. We need to move toward making people more visible. It should be very easy to put stuff up on the web while still keeping your autonomy. And we need awareness about that we should strengthen the human web. The web of people, not of empires. That we need to be linking to personal pages. I found out tonight that Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time has had its source code reverse engineered allowing it to be ported to other platforms. I got it built on my PC and it feels so good being able to play it full resolution at 60fps. I think I might actually play it to completion for the first time like this.

I'm quickly realizing that the problem with playing the entire game at once is that I've also condensed the amount of stuff to process to flush the experience out of my mind into one giant unit. Since I finished I have found myself unable to think about anything other than chunks of the game I just played, and I suspect I'll be stuck like this for a while.

I could describe my day in detail, but the only thing truly worth knowing is that I spent five hours (with some interruptions) playing straight through the entirety of Klonoa: Door to Phantomile for the PS1 in a single go. Partially this was because I've been meaning to finish it for years, but mostly I wanted to see if I could. The answer is that yes, I can, but I really shouldn't have. It's an incredible game, a true gem of the PS1 era, but it really wears on you after the first three and a half hours of surprisingly demanding platforming.
