I recently had a 19" 16:9 monitor die on me. I was not lucky enough to have a capacitor blow, so off to the bit bucket it went. Also known as the City of South Bend Hazardous Waste Facility. I friend of mind had a gaylord of old 17" flat screen monitors from 2008 and 2009. I was able to snag three.
After I replaced my 19" monitor that died, I realized something. How much I miss the old aspect ratios. In fact I even replaced my second monitor that was 16:9 with one of the used 17" monitors. Maybe it is because I do most things in the terminal but I really appreciate the more square aspect ratios. Don't get me wrong the 16:9 has its place but just for good old terminal work nothing bets the old ratios.
