I have been trying to selfhost things on my Android phone for some time already. With Termux it is possible to host servers on Android. Recently I wanted to try hosting a fediverse server on my phone. I first tried GoToSocial, but that did not really work. I used a free subdomain via dynu.com and had a ssl certificate. The problem was that I could not use the standard ports, because I do not have root access. I tried setting up a redirect using redirect.pizza, but that did not work really well...
I got Honk kinda working, but anything sent to it got lost with the redirection. I have not been able to find a good usable fix yet. I actually gave up for now.
Some things are quite easy to selfhost on Android though. Tge following things can be hosted without too much extra trouble:
There are also things that I did *not* succeed with:
Though maybe, if I would spend more time on it, I could get some of these things working anyway. I am not quite sure whether I should spend my time for that or not...
