Dreams and Infinite Jest

As you can now see on my index page, I have a dreams section! I've been keeping a dream journal for almost a year now, and thought it would be cool to digitize it. Dreams have always interested me. I don't think they usually have a meaning (besides what you're stressed about at the time or something you like) or are anything spiritual, but I do think they're cool. I've toyed with the ideas that dreams (especially lucid dreams) could be some method to view or change your self (meta-self??). Also the stories of people in comas having dreams that felt like they were years long but in reality they were only out for days have facinated me. I think theres something up with dreams, and science definitely hasn't figured them out yet.

I was also thinking of possibly starting another geminicapsule specifically for the gemini community to contribute their dreams and make one big gemini dream journal. It would work kind of like Midnight Pub, with keys n stuff. Sadly, I know next to nothing of any web development besides static pages, much less user generated and submitted content. Finding a good short domain also might be hard, but Namecheap says "dreamz.wiki" is $6.98 for a year, then renews at $24.88. "dreamz.group" could also work and is a solid $10.88 every year. Regardless, if you're interested in a project like this email me!

Today I went to Barnes and Noble with some friends, looking at books. I was planning to get Thomas Pynchon's "Gravity's Rainbow", but alas, it was too expensive. Instead I settled on a paperback (ew) version of David Wallace's magnum opus "Infinite Jest", a landmark in surreal and experimental fiction. I have to say, I first learned of "Infinite Jest" through /lit/, and have been eyeing it ever since. The cashier told me it was a classic, and asked if I knew about the footnotes. I said I did, and was actually a little intimidated by it. She said I'll be fine, but to use a lot of bookmarks. I just ordered a pack of 200 pagemarkers, so let's hope I will be!

While browsing for the pagemarkers, I came across Varg Vikernes' "Paganism Explained" series. I know Varg is an absolute crazy racist nutjob, but I've always been interested in him. I've also been interested in nordic relgions for a while, so this might be a buy. Among other books I want to read are Susanna Clarke's "Piranesi" and R. Scott Bakker's "The Darkness That Comes Before", both books that I've heard deal with deep and strange philopical and metaphysical topics. I've heard "Piranesi" even be compared to works by Jorge Luis Borges, whom I am very fond of. However, before reading all that, I gotta finish Dune. I actually started Dune in 5th grade but could never finish it because there was so much to keep track on. I picked it up again recently, not only in anticipation for the new movie (Although I am big Villeneuve fan), but also to watch David Lynch's 1980s adaptation of it. I know it's been universally panned as one of the worst adaptations of anything, but I love Lynch and just have this huge urge to watch it. Plus, I've heard it has a small cult following, and hey, maybe I'll join.
