I saw the lobste.rs discussion on what you'd failed to build[1], and I thought it an interesting idea. There's always the push to publish and promote your success, and it was even brought up in that discussion how refreshing it was to see everyone's failures.
And i'm too shy to actually use my lobste.rs account and thought I'd just post here what I've set out to accomplish and not quite got there.
A Passive Haptic Learning tool[2] I put together to try and learn Morse Code. It worked, but was clunky and annoying to use. I repurposed the RaspberryPi to a Stratum 1 NTP server instead.
I started building a "Lets Build SOmething" radio[3], got to the point where it received DSB reasonably well, then tried to get away from the prototype Arduino + sSI5351 breakout board to something a bit more compact and ended up blowing up the SI5351 chip, and haven't got around to ordering a new one!
On the radio theme, I started attempting to convert an old Wireless ISP transciever to the ham radio bands, but got stuck at the desoldering the cans step, don't have enough power in my soldering setup to make that work :(
Another one that I've not yet managed to complete successfully is to build a nice wooden case for my many 68keys.io keyboards. I've built some half arsed ones, and a few angle blocks though.
That's probably enough for now, though there are definitely more!
