Well, week 4 at the new job, I am now getting the hang of the environment and getting o know the team.
I've had a lot of fun playing with Terraform and Packer, have built a gitlab workflow to show off to the big bosses on how we can more easily build the base images for the organisation.
My team are certainly impressed with what can be done, as am I if I'm honest, I'd not so far really had a chance to sit down and work it out, but yeah, the immutable infrastructure way of doing things is quite elegant in a pure environment.
Of course, the real world, particularly federal government departments, are not even approaching a pure or ideal world, so there's that mismatch to contend with.
Also, I'd forgotten the horribleness of 90 minute 10 person meetings to determine that my team lead needs to chat with the other team lead to see what's happening, where I did not even need to be present. Ergh. At least I got paid for that 90 minutes I guess!
Anyways, a promising start :)
