Gemini pros/cons

Pros (speed and security)

+ Extra-fast internet browsing

+ Mandatory use of TLS (encryption)

+ No images, videos or JavaScript autorun

+ No tracking, ads or pop-ups

+ No “Accept cookies” banners

+ No “You have wrong browser” messages

+ Non-extensibility ("To minimise the risk of Gemini slowly mutating into something more web-like”)

Cons

These aren’t necessarily related to Gemini protocol itself. Instead, they are related to current state of Geminispace.

- Short supply of mirror services such as news and other “vital” sites.

- Gemini clients with GUI still need some key features.

- Short supply of free Gemini hosting sites with newbie-friendly GUI.

Target audiences:

People with slow internet connection (on mobile phone, while traveling, in wilderness areas, developing countries, etc.)
People with fast internet connection who want to save internet traffic for other purposes. (for example, multiple downloads and clients opened at the same time and internet starts to slow down)
People who want FAST news or stock market feeds rather than waiting for JavaScript bloated news sites.
People who value privacy and ultra-lightweight services. From a users perspective, Gemini news feeds are like RSS or alternative frontends without any connection to original news source.
People who seek old-school internet communities that have disappeared since the rise of (anti)social media.
