Hello! My name is Ben. I've been working around computers, text, and the law for 30+ years and I'm intrigued by the small web and this idea of simple text formats and and simple server software. I live in the United States and my native language is English, although I speak Spanish and can get by in Portuguese. I have studied various other languages.
My first computer was an Ohio Scientific Superboard II:

and the first time I ever used the web was with the command-line `www` client in 1991 or 1992. I was like, hmmmm, still like Gopher and FTP better. :)
I've owned a variety of machines over the years, ranging from CP/M-based portables to a Sinclair QL, a NeXTStation (bought new $$), and many others. Day to day, I mostly use a Mac now, although I've administered many Linux machines over the years. Vim. Python.
Recently, I built a Gigatron TTL-based computer, which I am very excited about, especially for the RISC approach and the virtual machine ideas, plus it's just **fun**.
I'm in the process of exploring a couple of other small-computing initiatives:
The Convivial Society - L.M. Sacasas (this is a great newsletter)
Culture Study - Anne Helen Petersen (also good)
The Marginalian, Maria Popova's fantastic blog
