A poem that Egg Milk Soup <egg at milksoup dot net> and I improvised on Discord.
StellarSkylark: Oh there was a kurzgesagt video talking about this
EMS: of course there was lol
StellarSkylark: Theoretically you could have a rogue planet that leaves its solar system
StellarSkylark: And the oceans freeze
StellarSkylark: But only the top whole bunch of the ocean
StellarSkylark: Because heat stored in the planet core keeps it melted near the ocean floor
EMS:
the heat stored in the planet core keeps it melted at the floor
StellarSkylark:
And so you could have a whole underwater ecosystem evolve, maybe even intelligent life, which will probably never manage to escape the miles-thick ice cap which is the ceiling of their entire world
EMS:
its energy is left in store sea-people reign forevermore
StellarSkylark:
until the years at last deplete the core of all its blessed heat
EMS:
and the kingdom loath to meet the end of people without feet
StellarSkylark:
but for now, the people swimm and even though their future's grim today, TODAY! the water's warm and feetless civilizations swarm and play, and eat, and sing, and fight and live their lives with all their might and live and die beneath the ice a claustrophobic paradise
EMS:
and as with peoples everywhere they can live without a care for even though we all face doom a little fun always has room inside that little head of yours so maybe don't lock all the doors that lead to things that make you smile; simple joy is worth your while
