Spices Set for "Amazing" Return

Jennifer CadyMon Nov 12, 11:56 AM ET

The five are ready to become one and things couldn't be more "spectacular."

That's the word from Melanie "Sporty Spice" Chisholm, who, on the eve of the

Spice Girls reunion, broke down the hotly anticipated comeback for E! Online.

It's been seven years since the quintet was riding girl power to the top of the

charts, but Chisholm says that aside from them all being in their thirties, she

hasn't seen too much change in Baby, Scary, Ginger and Posh Spice. (In

non-Spice World that's Emma Bunton, Melanie Brown, Geri Halliwell and Victoria

Beckham, respectively.) In fact, their original Spice names still apply.

"Mel B isn't as scary as she used to be, she's definitely mellowed somewhat.

She's still very feisty," Chisholm says. "Ginger is a little bit lighter now,

her hair is a little bit more golden. Baby's always going to be the baby, she's

the youngest. And Victoria is very posh."

The Spice Girls invasion officially gets going Tuesday when their new Greatest

Hits album featuring two new songs "Headlines" and "Voodoo" is released

exclusively at Victoria's Secret.

The pairing of sexy underwear and the Spice Girls couldn't be more perfect.

"It's sexy, it's fun, and we're a little bit older and more sophisticated,"

Chisholm says.

Not to mention that "we really wanted to be involved in their fashion show."

Ah yes, the famous Victoria's Secret fashion show full of leggy models stomping

down the runway in angel wings and sexy lingerie. This year will also bring

plenty of Spice.

"We're going to be performing one of our old songs and one of our new songs,

'Headlines', and it's going to be very beautiful," adds Sporty.

Does this also mean lingerie-clad Spice Girls? Possibly, says Chisholm. "We're

hoping to get ourselves into some Victoria's Secret underwear for the show."

The CBS special tapes this Thursday.

Two days before the fashion show airs on Dec. 4, the Spice Girls kick off their

world tour in Vancouver. They plan to hit major cities around the world through

February, including Madrid, Beijing, Sydney and London.

Then the Spice Girls are over, and it's right back to solo careers, fashion

designing, motherhood and "all the fun things we do as individuals," Chisholm

says.

"This is our final farewell. We wanted an opportunity to get together to really

celebrate everything we've achieved and give a great big thank you to our

fans."

And the girls are planning quite the sendoff. With Jamie King, a loyal

collaborator of Madonna for the past 10 years, as their creative director and

Roberto Cavalli designing the costumes, Sporty promises "the show is

spectacular, the dances are amazing, we're going to have amazing videos, the

staging is great."

"We just want to make this the best pop show that a British band has ever put

on."

Suddenly, dropping a couple hundred on a ticket doesn't seem like such a bad

idea after all.
