For awhile now I have been preparing myself for the "great declutterfying"

of my house. What basically needs to happen is I need to get rid of all

of my crap. As hard as it is, I need to get rid of it. I grew up pretty

short of money as a kid, so I learned to kind of keep everything since

You never know when a component of said things can come in handy one

day. Now that I'm in a much better financial situation than my parents were

when I was a kid, I think I can safely un-learn that practice. The issue

isn't necessarily un-learning the habit. But the sheer amount of crap I

have tucked away. It's not haording status, but it's more than my brain

wants to deal with.

So I'm going to use this as a reference to come back to when I forget,

or feel unmotivated to get things thrown out / donated.

- CLOTHES.

Dude you got fat over COVID and you had a kid. Get rid of

those 32w jeans you will NEVER fit in again.

- Un-needed documents.

No You aren't going to need that copy of HRO's

catalog in 30 years. You can keep QST though, those actually make sense

to collect due to the art and information inside of them for Ham Radio

projects in the future.

- Garbage.

Learn to take out the trash you lazy bastard. Don't let the

wrappers and cans pile up anymore.

- Furniture.

You are never going to use that couch or that spare bed again. Donate

them.

- Organize your tools.

You know you have the tools. They're somewhere. Get them organized so

you can use them when you need to instead of making due with a pair of

tin snips to cut that phone cable off the side of the house.

There is also one major barrier of the basement. Not the stuff down

there, that's able to be dealt with. It's the issue with water ingress.

When we moved in we took our Realtor's recommendation of company to deal

with. That was a huge mistake. We had a passive beaver system in the

house, and we needed to install a sump to be up to code. They installed

the sump, rerouted the drainage from the sewer drain.

BUT THEY DIDN'T CAP OFF THE ENDS OF THE TROUGHS THAT WERE CURRENTLY

THERE. They just left them open. I've since capped them off. But we

still get some ingress since I'm not a professional. So we're going to

have to hire professionals to get it fixed.

I will literally look at them in the face, "I have water in my basement.

Make my basement not have water." At this point it's not a matter of

cost because it's become such an inconveinence. We have cats, and their

box is down there. So their feet get coated in litter dust, and they get

wet feet, so they track that throughout the house. Not to mention they

get pissed off at the water and pee outside of their box because of it.

That makes for a fun time to clean up.

So. Clean up your life bud. Get that list done. It's time to be

productive at home, not just at work.
