About a week ago, I replaced the keyboard on my android phone with this weird little keyboard as an experiment in shaking up how my "default" interfaces work.
I like the way tools like this force me to slow down and "draw" my words.
I did notice as a side effect it had me wanting to doodle and draw more in general. I feel like it's reintroducing the idea to my fingers, and I consider that an absolute plus.
I've been obsessing about minimalist chording keyboards for a while now.
A friend offered to 3D print me a case for handheld version of the asetniop keyboard. I saw pictures of the print job this morning, and it had me excited to build something that uses the layout I've been enjoying tapping out on every spare surface around me.
The design was by Tristan Trim, who appears to be an absolute genius:
