Linux Distros

Pop!_OS

I drove Pop for a while and it's my top recommendation for a beginner-friendly distro. It ships with the Gnome desktop environment which takes some getting used to, but once you do I think chances are good that you'll end up liking it. The tiling window extension that it comes with is probably the easiest way to start playing around with a tiling workflow. It's also based on Ubuntu so it's pretty easy to find support for.

Arch Linux

This is the distro I'm currently using. Arch is rolling release which means you'll get new major versions of software as soon as they're available instead of all at once every ~6 months when a new version of your distro is released. It's also incredibly easy to install any piece of software you can imagine thanks to the Arch User Repository. Even if you're a relative beginner, I would (hesitantly) recommend Arch **if you like to tinker and don't mind reading docs** since the Arch Wiki's documentation is some of the best I've ever seen. Seriously, it's a valuable resource even if you're running something other than Arch. If you've been using Linux for at least a few years and haven't tried Arch, you owe it to yourself to at least install it in a VM and play around a bit.
