I love ArcoLinux. It's the best Arch-based distro of the ones I have tried. Arco gives you so many options of Arch to choose, from beginner to expert. You can choose which window manager (wm) or desktop environment (de) and they make it easy to add more from inside your current setup.
For the longest time I've use the i3wm, or i3-gaps. It was the first wm I tried and learned and stuck with it for most of the time. Occassionally I would switch to a different wm, like SpectreWM or DWM. Lately I've been using DWM and that is a great, simple and lightweight wm.
Recently I bought a new work laptop and had to get Windows off of it straight away. I downloaded a new ISO of ArcoLinuxD and I think it was defaulted to the Awesome wm. I figured I'd give it a try since I've never used it before. DistroTube, a YouTuber that I follow, likes to use the Awesome wm as the introductory wm to new window manager users. It's easy to use and comes with a lot of stuff setup out-of-the-box.
He was right. Out of the box there is already a lot of stuff pre-configured and ready to go. So far the only things I've changed in the config are my default terminal (Alacritty) and added a few programs to the autostart section. That's it; that's all I've done to get going and have the big things covered for configuration needs.
I went ahead and installed Awesome on my main desktop rig too and made the same changes to it as well.
I know I've written about this at least once or twice before, but it bears repeating. For those who love to tinker and customize their computing experience you can't beat Linux (or BSD). One cannot come close to personalization on macOS or Windows like you can on Linux.
