Man killed in West Cork crash as driver pronounced dead at the scene

A man has died in a crash in West Cork after a fatal collision involving a van this morning.

Gardai and emergency services rushed to the scene where the man was pronounced dead.

The collision at Gleann, Dunmanaway involved a single car and occurred at approximately 9:45am.

A man in his 60s, was the only occupant of the vehicle.

The body of the driver of the vehicle, has been removed to Cork University Hospital where a post mortem will take place

No other injuries were reported.

Forensic Collision Investigators attended to conduct a technical examination. The road was closed to allow investigation and local diversions were put in place.

Gardaí are appealing to any person who may have information on this collision to contact them.

In a statement today, they said: "Any road users who were travelling through this area between 9:30-10:am, who has camera (including dash cam) footage, is asked to make this available to Gardaí."
