All anybody wants in life is to be left alone.
Stranger or friend, it's cool you made it..
Since about 2017, my digital footprint has been shrinking. Some of that is because of mistakes I've made. Some of it is because of the expense of it all. And some of it is because I'm just tired of being sold-to in ways I can't control. Besides: it's a drain maintaining in excess of three domains.
My phones are feature, my photos are printed. Here's some other things I can probably share:
It's archaic, I suppose. But the convenience of a purely digital, streamed music collection is outweighed by monthly costs for both service and content. There's a lot of different forms of digital music that work around these limitations, but that's fine--I'm okay with polycarbonate, iron oxide and vinyl.
I like the idea of a simple and meaningful web.
I figure that's why I'm here in Geminispace. No matter how modern a chipset, devices seem to choke when rendering the most conceptually simple webpages (SEE: cross-site scripting, ads). This isn't to say all rich and complex web destinations are bad. Sometimes, however, the most basic experiences need to be embraced.
Computing with limitations is interesting to me.
Getting the most out of hardware--doing things on the simple and cheap--are the times where I feel most creative and am most charmed by tech. I find cutting-edge hardware and UX to rarely live up to their promises--especially after prolonged usage. I like my computers a little left of center (and maybe a few paces behind). The motive isn't to introduce complexity into an otherwise luxurious life, but it's a criticism that isn't wrong.
