I'm currently learning the SVG spec, and marvelling at how elegant it is. I'm surprised that it didn't take over as the target media for animation when flash died.

I hope your learning is fruitful. It seems like more people preferred technologies such as HTML5 for general use, but SVG does have it place in that it is typically used for simpler animations.
