Sitting by the campus lake in the sun, not a breath of wind, warm sun on my face
The lake is almost a mirror, albeit full of floating weed. There are about a dozen Dusky Moorhens[1] paddling around, pecking at the weeds. Nearby a couple of coot[2] doing much the same, a bit bigger and with their notifeably white beak and face, and in the middle distance a single tiny grebe[3] is speeding along on turbo-charged feet
Quiet too, for once there seems to be no Noisy miners around
