Down Two Wisdom Teeth, Fun Times!

So, recently I had a couple of wisdom teeth pulled. It’s my first time experiencing something like that, and what an experience it was. I’d hardly call it pleasant, but it wasn’t terrible. First, I just had local anaesthetic, and wasn’t put to sleep. The parts that bothered me were the pressure when the surgeon was going after the tooth, and then there were the crunching sounds. Just yuck. I hope not to have to deal with something like that ever again. If I do, I’ll definitely ask to be put under.

Now, for the last couple of days, I’ve been on a largely liquid diet. That has been a challenge, as I’ve felt deprived of calories during that time. This lead to mild headaches and a sense of nausea. Meals were comprised largely of milk (sometimes with protein supplement added), pudding, and ice cream. I think I was just burning through the sugar too quick, so was unable to get proper nutrients in me in.

Now, I’m slowly working my way up to slightly more substantial food, and it’s already making a huge difference. It’s amazing how much of an improvement moving to scrambled eggs and mashed potatoes has made. Those two things have helped a lot in getting more nutrients in me. I feel like my stomach is filling up a lot more, and the various sickly sensations appear to be going away. One thing I haven’t been able to shake is that I keep getting hiccups. I’m not sure if this is a coincidence or related to my temporary change in diet.

The next few weeks should be fun as the giant holes in my mouth close up. I’m still slightly paranoid of getting dry socket, so I’ll be as careful as possible while I heal. I really don’t want to jump the gun with advancing to more complicated foods. Patience will be a necessity for a while longer. So far, thankfully, recovery hasn’t been too painful. The first night was a bit rough, but since then so far so good.

Anyway, I just wanted to slap up a quick post about my adventure. It’ll probably impact my ability to post here over the next week or two, as I’m resting a lot, and not putting a lot of time into reading, or games, or much of the other stuff I normally do. Once my energy levels have returned, so will I. Until then, lots of sleep and slurping up eggs and potatoes.
