Over the past several days I've been exploring Gemini and the Geminispace. I think the best thing about exploring it has been the recognition that there are so many interesting online communities out there built on so many different technologies, whether that be gopher or open server communities or other I've yet to discover.
I love the promise of a technology like Gemini. It's awesome to have a way to blog that doesn't lend itself to distraction. When I've tried starting a blog in the past, I have usually gotten stuck in the weeds of picking a colorscheme, tinkering with the CSS, deliberating over whether to place it at this subdomain or that one, or whether to purchase a wholly separate domain for this new thing I'm making. Almost invariably I spend more time working on the form of the blog, rather than the substance. Therefore, discovering gemlogs, where the form is far simpler and invites less tinkering, is a breath of fresh air.
I'm really excited to be setting something like this up. I feel like it's a great way to start 2022, and I'm looking forward to posting more in this manner.
