The song 'Heimreise Fraa Steren' (return from the mountain pasture) has lyrics by a 18'th century norwegian poet Edward Storm (1749-94) living most of his life in Copenhagen (Denmark and Norway was until 1812 a twin kingdom). It as written in the dialect of Storm's native soil, Guldbrandsdalen in southern Norway. He may have written the poem directly to a norwegian folk tune, for the song is found in an arrangement with piano accompaniment in a collection of norwegian folk songs and tunes, 'Norske Folke-Sange og Melodier' edited by the danish composer A. P. Berggreen (1801-1880). As his famous fellow countryman Niels W. Gade (1817-1890) wrote an overture for the comedy "Imellem Fjeldene" by the danish poet Carsten Hauch (1790-1872) he chose this melody as a whole in the introduction and as the theme of the allegro sections. In the middle a minor section Gade uses the first four bars of another song from Berggreen's collection, 'Saag du nokke Kjrringa mi' (Did you see anything of my wife). Mats Bengtsson's lilypond typesetting of the overture is part of mutopia section of the lilypond source distribution (http://www.cs.ruu.nl/people/hanwen/lilypond/) and is also published in the GMD sheet music archive. The source of the typesettings of 'Heimreise Fraa Steren' and 'Saag du nokke Kjrringa mi' is the second enlarged edition of Berggreen's collection (1861). As for 'Heimreise' the notes including the first stanza of the lyrics are in the mudela source file 'heimreise.ly' while the remaining 3 stanzas are in the latex file 'heimreise_lyr.tex'. The file 'heimreise.tex' is the result of executing 'ly2dvi -K' (or lilypond directly) on the mudela source file. The latex output file resulting from a 'ly2dvi -k' processing of the mudela source containing has been renamed to heimlyr.tex. This file contains a.o. an inclusion statement for 'heimreise.tex' and to that I have added the inclusion of the lyrics source file heimreise_lyr.tex. Thus it servs as a governing script to merge the notes and the additional lyrics. In order to produce the final score with the additional lyrics added below the score you'll therefore have to run latex on 'heimlyr.tex' and after that you should use dvips to produce a human readable document from the resulting file 'heimlyr.dvi'. A similar procedure - without a separate lyrics source file - has been used for 'Saag du nokke Kjrringa mi'.
