In the first 2 days of being back to work I've already put in 19.17 hours. The GM said business this year is actually higher than it was last year. Maybe I should be happy? I'm not really sure why it would matter to me if business is ok or great. Either way, there's no bonus, just unwanted overtime.
Living below my means has always been important to me. I dream of one day being like Jacob Fisker[1] but that won't happen as long as I'm married.
Right now I'm debating going to part time. On one hand I want to save as much money as I can, and on the other hand I want more free time. Also, not breaking my back everyday would be nice.
Another thing that keeps popping into my mind is this study[2] Which says we're more productive in 11 hours than people were in a 40 hour work week. So why are we working so much over time? Why are we working more than we did pre industrialization[3]?
