My unpopular opinions about programming

I present these in no particular order. They'll probably get me hate, though.

Syntax highlighting is just distraction for bad code
IDEs in general are just distraction. If you need an IDE to understand your code, it's bad, end of story
Most people don't actually need more than 32-bit computers. Hell, the vast majority of those would be fine with only 16 bits!
Optimization, formatting, making sure the code does something sensible, etc. are the programmers job and not the machine's. Computers are dumb hunks of metal and you're an intelligent human, it's your job to think dammit
The higher-level a language is, the more annoying it is to get shit done with it
The web simply needs to die. Full stop.
The client-server model is still the best way to organize a network. If you need to create a trustless network, you are trying to solve a human issue with technology, which hasn't once succeeded.
If you, with the right materials, couldn't build your computer from wires and maybe some ICs, it's too complex. I'm not saying don't use a laptop, I do too, but I also hate how complex it is.
Most of the things that have microchips in them don't actually need one. Most of them are better off without one, in fact.
In general, if something doesn't have the word "computer" in its name, it shouldn't have one.
MM/DD/YYYY isn't all that bad of a date format
Time sucks, stop trying to fix it. It will stay like this forever.
Encrypted transport, in most cases, is overkill.
