For the past years I was regularly interested in what I would term the "parallel web", and was looking around on a variety of platforms like Freenet, I2P, and Retroshare (of which I was part of the release team). Also technologies like DAT, Cabal and Bitmessage drew my interest and I tried them all out to get a feeling of their strengths and weaknesses.
One thing that has become clear to me in those experiences is that "more is not always better", something we can see happening on the http(s) part of the Internet as well. So when I discovered Geminispace I was pleasantly surprised at what can grow out of a simple protocol and the philosophy that underpins it.
As I do my part in adding a bit of content to this Internet of Literature, I look forward to interacting with others who have for various reasons embraced the minimalism that many have missed since the dawn of the Internet as it rapidly turned into a complicated mess. Soon I hope to be able to add more to this site and link back to other Gemsites that I think are fascinating.
