Giftpia feels like a Twin Peaks version of Animal Crossing. You play as a young man who oversleeps and misses his coming of age ceremony. As punishment, his community places him in jail with the instructions that if he does not pay fines for his mistakes, he will not only not go free, but will never become an adult. From there you are freed to do community service to earn money to pay off your debts, but with various impediments. Your face has a censor mosaic over it, and you have to pay back enough money to earn the right to your own face back. You have a big ball and chain on your leg you have to pay to remove. It feels like the vague hints of Animal Crossing's house debt made ten thousand times more blatant.
