Today I found a really interesting chord progression in E major. Just rocking back and forth between two chords.
We are going to play a 5th string rooted 6/11 chord on frets 2 & 7.
B6/11 E6/11 x x 2 | * * | | | 7 | * * | | | ----------- ----------- | | | | | | | | | | | | ----------- ----------- | | | * * * | | | * * * ----------- ----------- | | | | | | | | | | | | ----------- ----------- | | | | | | | | | | | |
Take it slow and turn your ambient reverb way up. Add a bit of shimmer if your pedal can do it.
If you have a looper pedal try getting this going in a loop so that you can solo over top of it.
Remember this is E major so you can use pentatonic box 4 at fret four and experiment with all kinds of interesting musical phrases.
When I'm soloing ambient like this I like to use a dirt pedal like my OCD pedal turned way way down. Then I add some echos with my delay pedal.
With a fuzz pedal you can get a tenor saxophone sound going on. Pretty soon you are playing the score to Blade Runner.
Well then have I got the brass tea kettle for you. May I present the 6th string rooted voicing of a 6/11 chord. Move it all over the fretboard like the ambient 6/11 monster that we both know you are. You are magnificent.
