Notwithstanding the eligibility criteria that will be set down in regulations for any scheme, the Council wishes to establish the level of interest in local authority provided affordable dwellings.
This is a survey of interest in affordable housing purchase only and for the purpose of gathering information and determining potential levels of interest at various locations within County Westmeath. The information will be used to inform the Council on the level of demand and locations for affordable houses.
Availability of any affordable housing schemes progressed by the Council in the future will be advertised separately, and a formal application process will apply in accordance with the legislation in place at that time.
Local Minister welcomes survey
Local Minister of State, Deputy Robert Troy, has welcomed the survey announcement and has encouraged those who believe they qualify for affordable housing to participate.
“I very much welcome this new survey from Westmeath County Council. As part of the Housing for All scheme, the local authority is actively considering the development of affordable housing over the coming years at a number of locations across Westmeath
“I would urge any families, who feel that they may qualify for affordable housing to submit their information to the survey in advance of any affordable housing schemes within the county,” Deputy Troy asserted.
