lagrange

up till now, i've been using the castor gemini client.

castor

castor has served me well so far, but it was a bit bare-bones for my taste. by unfortunate happenstance, my gtk theme makes it very difficult to read without some kind of reconfiguration. i'd still highly recommend the client to anyone who wants a fast and stable gemini client written in rust.

i've switched to lagrange, a gemini client written in c that has a lot of fancy features.

lagrange

lagrange blew me away once i got it working. since i use nixos, it took a bit of tweaking to find a good solution to easily running the binary, which has to be built from source on linux. typically i use rofi to avoid needing to keep a terminal alive for GUI programs, but i had serious troubles properly setting up the $PATH so that rofi could find the lagrange binary. ultimately, i just gave lagrange its own special keybinding in i3.

suffice to say, i highly recommend any readers take a look at lagrange!
