Here are the Olds who live in Jone's world
- Elfs: Some are friendly and neighborly, some are pretty wild and like going on joy rides and smashing stuff up. Kind of like humans I guess. Openly practice sex magic, and new-age nature magic. "An elegant and ancient race of the Olds, yeah yeah yeah, but they sure can be a bunch of jack-asses too. Just like anybody else."
- Dwarfs: good mechanics. Shockingly quick at stripping a car. Keen to buy diesel engine parts. Only pay in gold.
- Ogres: large threatening creatures. One eye. Capable of speech. Humans hunt and kill them because they are dangerous
- Dragons: Seem to be attracted to loud noises. Jone shot and killed a blue dragon with a crossbow after Lucy's trailer caught fire. A yellow dragon destroyed the brewery where Del worked.
- Goblins and Hobgoblins: Speedy thieving things. pests. eat cats. poop on the ground. Smart enough to manufacture and use some kind of nerve toxin that they use on their blowdarts.
- Centaurs: four legged jerks who steal stuff from the humans. Took over all the best houses. Briefly organized into some kind of a police unit with uniforms and everything.
- Gnomes: small enough to be picked up by a crow. Fatalistic (didn't react much when a crow took one.) Couple hundred sick gnomes are standing around in Pierce's barn. Kind of bad at surviving? Sometimes they just freeze to death out in the old school field.
