Nristen's (g)log
I have always enjoyed playing with the different Raspberry Pi versions. I have always entertained the idea of using a Pi for my primary computer device imaging myself stuck out in the wild using a raspberry pi that only used the juice I could produce from a solar PV panel.
If I was really stuck out in the wild, I would probably be spending most of my time and energy to collect food and making sure I had a secure dwelling instead of spending it on a computer but maybe if the winter was cold, I might have enough idle time.
Anyway, in the past, I have typically used the server/headless version of RasbianOS however on Gemini, I have seen several mentions of Alpine linux that got my curiosity up enough to start playing with it.
First I installed it in Virtual Box on my laptop and was surprised at how fast it booted. After playing around with it a little bit and finding that I really liked the package manager apk.
I had a spare raspberry pi 3B that I cleaned off and am currently setting up Alpine on an SD card.
I am looking forward to adding the instructions I use to a gemini page so there will be one more usefule resource on Gemini for people to use.
hint: I am promoting the addition of good content to Gemini so it can become more than just a curiosity.
