Gemini Logs and Feeds

On the traditional web, people write weblogs, or blogs. On Gemini, people write Gemini logs, or gemlogs. You can easily create a gemlog by clicking "New gemlog post" on the edit file page.

To give your post a title, make the first line a header line, like this:

# My first post

The gemlog folder is best for medium to long form posts, or substantial announcements. For microblogging, I recommend using a single file that you update as you like, such as a journal.gmi file.

To draft posts, you can edit files inside the .hidden folder and then move them to the gemlog folder when you finish. Your posts will have to have the format YYYY-MM-DD[any additional text].gmi to show up properly.

Here is an example:

//alex.flounder.online/gemlog/

This will aggregate your content, both using atom and a new feed format for gemini:

Official Feed Specification

You can also generate the feed manually if you'd like, following the specification linked above.

If you'd like to see more Gemini feeds, check out an aggregator. You can also submit your feed so that it gets aggregated there, not just on Flounder!
