Ed Sheeran Cork 2022: The strange items banned as umbrellas, selfie-sticks, and more not permitted in Pairc Ui Chaoimh

28 Apr

It's a massive day in Cork city as 70,000 people are expected to hit Pairc Ui Chaoimh over today and tomorrow for Ed Sheeran.

Thursday will see the first major gig hit the town for the first time since 2019 and to say everyone's excited would be an understatement.

They hype has been building and after storming his shows in Dublin's Croke Park and now it's finally our turn to experience a big show we've been waiting ages for.

For those wondering about the setlist, support acts, and more you can check out our guide by clicking right here.

You can also find out about parking arrangements here.

As always there's a lot of rules when it comes to big events, and Aiken Promotions have published a list of items people are not allowed to bring.

On top of what's written below no bags "larger than A4" will be permitted.

There's some more unexpected things on the list too - like selfie sticks and flasks.

Aiken say: "NO. Umbrellas are not permitted in the venues. In the event of adverse weather conditions, we would advise bringing a rain mac or disposable raincoat/ poncho."

"Any large lens professional cameras or any form of video recorder WILL NOT be admitted. Only small 35mm cameras will be permitted.

"Flag poles, selfie sticks, sticks for banners are not allowed. Only small banners of other (A4 or A3 size) will be permitted into the events as anything larger can obstruct the views of other fans.

"Personally, we would recommend keeping your hands free to save you from carrying your signs to the bathrooms, food/bar outlets and most importantly you’ll need free hands for a whole lotta clapping right!?"

Prohibited articles and items are as follows:

They added: "There will be plenty security staff at the concerts. The security staff are there for your protection, to direct and to help you.

"Please do not hesitate to ask them for help at any point. We ask you to co-operate with the security staff as their job is to make the whole experience go as smoothly as possible for all the fans."
