Yesterday gemsphere exploded with several posts on corporate growth, starting with innocent question by ew0k:
Why Do Corporations Have to Grow?
Looking at nytpu's feed of recent articles, I counted at least three answers:
Thoughts on Corporate Growth - by Rob
Re: Why Do Corporations Have to Grow? - by StackSmith
Re: Why Do Corporations Have to Grow? - by eapl.mx
I've read through all of them and agree to all of them to varying degree, but I felt obliged to join gemsphere just to add a note about companies which live on borrowed money (where you can buy shares). I believe that often these companies are under pressure of their shareholders who invested their money in the companies and expect to get more money in return. And depending on how much power (ownership) they have over the company, they can more or less influence company policies. And assuming they want more money - they're likely to push company into growth.
That's all I wanted to add.
