Life changes

2021-01-25 18:54 PST

now watching: Train to Busan presents: Peninsula

Courtesy of school, my computering has dramatically changed. I use Windows more often because I have to write a lot of papers in Word, and I don't spend a lot of time on the computer just tinkering. I haven't programmed much lately.

I'm also changing my diet. I was on a high-fat, low-carb one-meal-a-day diet, which I like, but being successful at the physical fitness parts of school is going to take some changes. For one, I need to lose about 15 pounds. Whereas my target macros before were 40% protein, 50% fat, 10% carbs, I'm now targetting 50% protein, 40% carbs, 10% fat. This is based on recommendations from the instructor. Because we're a lot more active, instead of just trying to hit my metabolic basal rate (about 1700 calories), I'm now aiming for between 2000-2200 calories. The biggest adjustment for me is going back to eating three meals a day. It's hard, as I'm used to only eating once; I usually started preparing food around 1600 and ate between 1630-1800 (it takes a lot to get 1700+ calories of clean food down in one sitting).

Finally, I'm having to really fight to get proper sleep in. I don't get back from class until 2300, realistically, and even later if there's an accident like that spun-out corvette the other night. Then it's about an hour to get a protein drink in, reset my stuff, and get to bed. Then it's up at 0600 so I can get a workout in and be at work by 0800. This only works because I'm working from home. I have no idea how it'll work when we return to the office. I might have to quit if that happens - I don't want to, which means hoarding money now I guess.
